My paintings are all done on gallery wrapped canvas which I stretch myself. After
several coats of gesso and much sanding, I finally arrive at a surface smooth
enough for the effect I want. The painting continues around the sides of the
canvas, so framing isn't necessary. Most paintings are 1 1/2" deep.
